Nike x Spongebob Collaboration
Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? SpongeBob SquarePants! Who has the most drip and a shoe with Nike? SpongeBob SquarePants! With their 20th anniversary of being on television, SpongeBob decided it was time to start working with global sneaker powerhouse, Nike! A long overdue collaboration is soon being released, featuring a line of shoes from the classic American animated TV show, SpongeBob SquarePants.
Comprised of 5 shoes based upon characters from the popular TV show, the shoes highlight the main aspects of what makes each character unique! Each colorway is on a Kyrie silhouette but contain specific characteristics to differentiate each pair. Embodied by SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star, Sandy Cheeks, and Mr. Krabs, this collaboration is bringing Bikini Bottom to our own feet!
With the forerunner of the collaboration being the SpongeBob colorway, coming in a Kyrie 5 it sports a tan gum bottom, red accents, and a textured, bright yellow base this shoe really represents spongebob, as it also is decorated with a drippy Nike Swoosh! Followed by his accomplice, Patrick Star, shining bright with pink and neon green, the shoe is textured to personify Patrick, . Hopefully they made a special pair for Patrick considering his inability to tie his own shoes! Next, a man known for his bitterness, as well as his love for finer things, Squidward Tentacles. In a cooler, more refined style of the Kyrie 5 it really exemplifies Squidward’s personality compared to the other shoes so far. Squidward’s shoe comes in the “Iconic octopus’ turquoise tones” however unfortunately as advertised “Clarinet skills not included”. In a more toned down, simple, yet classic look, the Sandy Cheeks model is very sleek, and technical looking, representing the character very well! This colorway is delivered in a Kyrie Low 2 and was inspired by Sandy’s space suit, adorned with acorns and a tiny flower! The minimalistic appeal of these shoes really helps it in comparison to the rest of this collaboration. Last, but most certainly not least, the Mr. Krabs Kyrie Low 2s. Prior to it’s release this colorway may be the most hyped with pre sales spiking up to $340, aka a 300% ROI if you are interested. The main appeal for this shoe could be the green stripe juxtaposing the red, and being embossed with what looks like dollar bills! This model is in a bright university red, green accents, a icy blue sole, and then a gold Swoosh to complete this Mr. Krab inspired shoe!
