Gundam VS. Hello Kitty
Some things in life can be expected, such as rain, the sun rising, and Hello Kitty being in outer space surrounded by giant robots, or being attacked by Zeons. Japanese science fiction cartoon, created by Yoshiyuki Tomino,Gundam and Japanese fictional cartoon character Hello Kitty, AKA Kitty White created by Yuko Shimizu, will be giving us a look into what a mash up of a perpetual 3rd grade London cat, and giant Mechas fighting other giant robots.. IN SPACE!
With both franchises celebrating anniversaries, Gundam’s 40th, and Hello Kitty’s 45th, we get a teaser for an upcoming project they are working on. With no translation yet available we are left confused and excited as we watch the trailer. This unlikely collab between the two franchises leaves me with only one desire, to watch Hello Kitty kick some serious robot ass in outer space!
Not only does this trailer bring back a wave of nostalgia, but it shows how older productions are beginning to get more creative and inventive with their brands, and starting to stray into areas they may not have before. Feeding into the resurgence of vintage/nostalgic culture being reintegrated into today’s society.
