Android Quality
There are too many memes to count that can almost accurately depict the quality of content that comes from an android device. As hurtful as it may be to accept, it is the truth Android users . I wanted to shed some light on the reason why as they seem to be a misconception when it comes to the real reason behind this. Apple is great platform, and though I personally believe their devices are extremely overpriced form a hardware perspective, Apple makes up for it greatly with the ecosystem the. Apple completely guides the manufacturing and software development processes behind their devices. If the device is supported by apple, its code based will be the same for the respective device lines with extremely small variations if any. This means that if an application developed for one iPhone will work on all iPhones.
This is where the android platforms falls a little short. Until Google acquired HTC, they only owned the software development piece of android devices. Prior to this acquisition, multiple manufacturers like Samsung, LG, Huawei, One+ and many more put their own flavors on top of native android, making major changes to the to fit the manufacturer's specs. This made it much harder to provide the same experience across all android devices. This is where “android quality” is really defined. Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and many other mobile app developers all feel this pain. On androids, how the OS interacts with the camera depends on the manufacture. This forced developers to use the viewfinder for pictures instead of the actual camera. The means instead of using the camera to take a picture, the developers took a screenshot instead and used that for photo uploads.
As a die hard samsung fan I personally had to deal with a lot of these issues myself. No matter how much better the internals of my device has been, the difference always came down to software. What kept me on the Samsung - Android side of things is the added functionality their line of devices comes with. My Galaxy Note 8 + My Samsung Dex makes thing tick for my busy lifestyle and hits many marks in respect to today's e-commerce market. However, the difference in content quality is getting better, as android device manufactures are keeping the their device variants closer to “Stock Android”. Most importanlty , Manufactures a re now spending more money to to dev applications for the phones speicifically. WHile this does not solve the problem for the entire android ecosytem Samsung actually decided to spend more money on devloping direct integrations for their device line.
