Kanye West x Rick and Morty
You may see Kanye as a god, a creative genius, an insane celebrity, or simply a talented (or untalented) musician. However, there is one trait of Mr. West’s you must commend, he chases every dream he imagines. For well known influencers it can be difficult to fluidly transition with such dynamic range, but Kanye has been able to chase any dream he’s had.
Kanye is well known for his musical ability, cemented his creativeness by starting his own fashion line, and is now attempting to use television as his latest medium to share his vision. Kanye has already displayed prowess in directing with his short film style music videos. Recently, one of Rick and Morty’s creators, Dan Harmon, extended an invitation of sorts to Mr. West, saying "I'm giving him an episode. I'm making it official. We have 70, he can have one. Kanye, you can have one . . . It's official. That would be fucking amazing". So with Rick and Morty also announcing their 70 episode extension, we may be blessed with a Yeezy Rick and Morty episode! Which fills me with curiosity and excitement, knowing that Rick and Morty is one of the most in depth, sporadic shows I’ve watched, it leaves so many possibilities as to what role Kanye can have. We can look forward to the return of Rick and Morty this November, 2019.
Rick and Morty aren’t the only ones providing Kanye with an avenue to express his vision. Showtime is currently developing a show called Omniverse. According to the show’s writer, Lee Sung Jin, the show is of “an alternate world through the eyes of a young man somewhere in the multiverse who happens to also be a Kanye West” where the “young man” is played by Jaden Smith. With such an elite core, Omniverse should make to be an interesting show unlike many we have seen before. Some may think that these are Kanye’s first steps into the world of television, however around the time of 808s and Heartbreaks, Kanye was set to host a saturday night live style show. Intended to use a muppet motif, it was separated from anything else at the time. It is sure to be an ingenious combination, be sure to look out for Kanye on your regularly scheduled programming!
