Abortion laws 2019

Let me just begin that right here. If you feel as if you have the right to control other’s based on your own views or ideals than immediately check yourself. In nearly every controversial political topic, there is a disagreement on the state restricting the population. Marijuana, people want less limitations, gun control, people want less limitations, and now abortions, a right that women should be able to have access to, is somehow being challenged in order to limit it.

I will not go into the deeper side of all of the politics while trying to remain more focused around the facts. The fact of the matter is in the case of Roe v. Wade (1973) the Supreme Court deemed that the constitution protected a woman’s right to an abortion prior to the viability of the fetus. However, breaking the pregnancy term into trimesters in order to restrict access to abortions, and the states ability to interfere, to certain time frames. This alone brings us to wonder why certain states are pushing for unconstitutional bills and attempting to restrict access to something that was deemed a constitutional right.

To sum up what should be the main point in any of these discussions that come up, if you don’t like something just don’t indulge in it. There is no reason to take away someone’s rights or restrict their access to something. The Constitution of the United States states that the government was constructed to “form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves”. So with some of it’s main goals being “promote general welfare” “insure domestic tranquility” “and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves”, why would they restrict a medical practice that is so common that about one in four US women will have an abortion before the age of 45. Over 60 million legal abortions are estimated to have been performed in the United states since Roe v. Wade in 1973. Imagine attempting to restrict access to something, that essentially, only affects the parties involved, based on your ideals that abortion is murder, taking away the inalienable right to life away from a fetus. Or that abortion shouldn’t be used as a contraceptive due to religious beliefs or that it may have negative psychological effects.
